Ontario Government Returns To Bargining Table With Doctors

The province announced in a statement earlier on Thursday its desire to return to the bargaining table with Ontario’s doctors. The Ontario Medical Association applauds this decision.

The premier of Ontario says that, like doctors, the government is setting up a new bargaining committee.

Kathleen Wynne indicated that she and her Minister of Health and Long-Term Care, Eric Hoskins, agreed to arbitrate disputes. The first point that will be discussed during the resumed talks will be the arbitration process, the statement said.

To prove its good faith, the government agrees to make no unilateral adjustment to physicians’ fees and obligations during the negotiations.

The Ontario Medical Association also named its bargaining committee earlier today. The association said in a statement that it “is eager to begin negotiations.” The representatives of the association are particularly pleased that the government accepts arbitration.
